About This Spot

Byung Chun Soondae is the kind of place that welcomes you with the quiet hum of a neighborhood gem—familiar, unpretentious, and deeply comforting. Tucked in the vibrant stretch of Flushing's Northern Boulevard, it’s a spot where time seems to slow just enough for you to settle in and savor more than just a meal. The steady flow of locals and the low murmur of conversations create a rhythm that feels warm and grounding, a stark contrast to the city’s relentless pace.

Inside, the atmosphere is casual yet purposeful, with an undercurrent of tradition running through it. The air carries the rich scents of simmering stews and grilled meats, inviting you to linger and explore the layers of flavor that unfold in every bowl. Whether arriving early for their breakfast special or dropping in for a late-night bite, you find a space where authenticity is served alongside generous portions and thoughtful touches—like the distinct brown and purple rice that complements each dish with quiet pride.

Byung Chun Soondae’s menu is a comforting journey through beloved Korean classics, from the hearty warmth of blood sausage stews and pork bone soups to the satisfying char of grilled mackerel and short ribs. There’s a clear sense that each recipe honors tradition, balancing familiar tastes with those unique details that keep diners coming back. The accompanying banchan, varied and flavorful, offers subtle surprises that highlight the care behind every meal.

This is a place where the food feels like home, served up by a kitchen that respects both the ingredients and the guests. The moment you sit down, you’re part of a quietly shared experience, the kind that long-time visitors appreciate and new arrivals remember. It’s less about spectacle and more about the honest enjoyment of Korean fare done right—a place whose hum of activity and warm, steady hospitality welcome you to return again and again.

The trend of goated asian restaurants having only a 3.5 rating strikes again. This is one of my favorite spots for legit korean food, if this place opened in manhattan k-town it would put 80% of the mediocre joints on that filthy street out of business. I can eat this everyday ong

This will be my go to spot for Gamjatang and kimchi soups. They have amazing flavors with large portions for the right price. Blood sausage was ok but the soups are great.

I’ve been here several times and the food is pretty consistently good. The food is also very reasonably priced and the banchan is always unique and delicious. By the way, this is a rare establishment that serves brown and purple rice!! They also currently have a breakfast special and are open 24/7. We ordered the cattle blood soup combo with grilled spareribs and the beef tofu soup with grilled soondae. My friend said the cattle blood soup was great but my beef tofu soup was okay (strangely a bit sweet, possibly due to the onions). The grilled spareribs were also a bit sweet (but probably due to the glaze) but the soondae that came on a hot plate was delicious. Previously, we’ve order bossam, beef rib soup, and spicy beef soup with scallion (yukgaejang) and all of those dishes I would highly recommend! They also have a few parking spots in front which come in very handy.

Love this spot. Been coming for years. Has some of the BEST KOREAN DISHES in Queens and, dare I say, in NY. The staff can be very distracted at times but will get you what you need when requested. Recommend dishes: - Soondae guk (blood sausage stew) - pork bone hangover stew - grilled Mackerel www

I stopped by while in NY with some friends and the food was amazing. We missed breakfast by a few minutes which I was sad about but we caught lunch and I’m so glad that we did. I honestly had a hard time letting the food cool down enough to eat. I got some kind of beef stew and it was very flavorful. The meat tasted like it was marinated, it picked up whatever it was soaked in very well. The banchan was fresh and delicious. We ate them all by themselves before the food even arrived. The staff was nice and patient. There was an odor that I didn’t like and it did upset my stomach. I think it might have been coming from outside though. Honestly the best Korean food I’ve had. I’ll definitely come back during another visit.
